Welcome to the source
for actual weather on Anderson Island, WA
Brought to you by Kris & Josh,
jAssing
Consulting, & AIWeather.com
There's been a few changes at AIWeather; here's just a brief list of some of
them!
June 2010
Haven't done much recenty; been busy -- but I'm back into the 'weather geek' mode....
Working on some issues -- why no one told me I dunno... ( location)
Fixed tides page, hopefully for the last time!
Added some new lightning displays -- of course, they won't be made public until we get some lightning strikes and i can verify they work
Added Todo List which is my list of things to fix/do -- will be somewhat dynamic as i work on things. PLEASE if you see something broken, let me know: Click .
ImageSalsa is screwing up. Randomly, after a reboot, it no longer thinks the web cam is selected
February 2010
Added sponsor Jim & Sandy Sheppard. Thank you for your support!
Added Visitor Tracking (And took it off/not working)
Working on some more dynamic lightning maps
August 2009
PLEASE bear with me. Feel free to email me pages that don't work; but if they have details about PHP; godaddy refuses to let them work; I will not have time to fix them until I'm back from vacation. Remember, I don't make any money at this, and to date, only Anthony and anderson island realty has thought this was a good project.....
Yes, I know!!! 500 are back. Thanks Godaddy. They offer no tools for debugging. When asked about the errors, the same dull canned response 'we don't offer support for custom scripts'. WTF? A page 500's and there's no way to tell why? -- so until the server move is complete; we're hosed. I tried to use 'webhost4life'. They had good price, fast servers, really good customer support, but their ftp restrictions were unreasonable, I had nothing but pathing problems, and the ajax would not work; so I'm back to godaddy.. :(.
Moved to GoDaddy hosting while server is mvoed
GOBS of changes to handle restrictions for movign to godaddy; most changes will also bennefit the server once moved
July 2009
Added "Live Support" button --
if
you see me "online" feel free to say "Hi!"
Well; not too much has happened recently -- cleaned the camera lens,
cleaned & replaced the batteries on the weather station. I'm working
on putting some data directly from the marina.
I haven't updated in a while; but the power is back & steady; but
Anderson Island Realty
helped so much; that they are still considered our sponsor.
Fixed time-lapse video for webcam; it has failed since the new system --
just found out.
Fixed text on some buttons
Added Radar
image from stormpredator. (Will be adding time-lapse soon)
March 2009
UV Sensor replaced, appears good
February 2009
The UV sensor is bad again; it has been returned
Power situation on island is bad. Our
rates from www.tannerelectric.coop
have basically doubled or tripled, because the generator costs 1/2 million
per month to operate -- as a result of this; I am only powering up the
island computer 2 times a day to provide data to all the services we support
(NOAA, etc). We need to conserve as much as possible. If you
are an island business and would like advertising space on AIWeather --
contact me and I will keep the island-side computer online 24x7.
The other data (forecasts, marine data etc) are derived from other services.
With costs going from $.05/kilowatt to $.35/kilowatt -- I Just can't keep
"hobbies" powered on.
Oh yea, and yes,, the beer fridge has been
powered off -- c'mon by to help drain it!
Thanks to
Anderson Island Realty -- A donation was made to keep AIWeather "online"
during this troubling power situation.
January 2009
New computer has been built & placed into service. I spent $400 to
build a 2.6ghz quad core, 4gig ram, 250gig drive system. I could
really use help with this. As a normal hobby; this would have not been
purchased/built so quickly; I'd have let it "go" a bit longer -- I had 2
people at the store ask "When are you going to get aiweather fixed????" and
more than a few emails. I could
really use donations to help. If you're a business; I'll put a
rotating banner ad on the pages, if your an individual; I'll do the same if
you want; regardless; there will be a "thank you" page.
Despite getting a lot of daily hits (for a little weather page...) and the
write-up in the sounder; all I get are complaints about speed (I pay for
bandwidth) or the occasional computer crash. I don't earn money off
this site; it's a hobby -- but if you think it's wortwhile -- kick down a
few bucks to help. To date -- Anthony of Anderson Island Realty is the
only one that has helped out....
November 2008
Heard we were going to be written up in the Island newsletter; but I
never got a copy of the article as promised, so who knows -- if you have
seen a copy; please send it to me!
AITrayWeather is now available.
This will put the weather from our Weather station directly into your system
tray!
September 2008
UV Sensor returned from Davis; UV readings back online
New Beer Fridge, adjusted "keg empty"
temp threshhold.
August 2008
UV Sensor offline for repairs -- sent to David Instruments for diagnosis
Added
Fire Icon for High Fire Danger alerts from Washington Department of Natural
Resources for Pierce County
We continue to be plagued by the "500" error -- we have switched to a
new ftp server to hopefully help reduce it. please let me know if you
experience errors!
December 2007
Added lots of code to (hopefully) prevent 99% of the "500 server error" messages due to page access during data uploads
Due to "500" errors, we've removed the automatic 5 min page-refresh, and
replaced it with 10 minutes.
Conversion to Ajax for dynamic updates should be completed on all pages
(Note: Some values do not change dynamically -- if you find one that you
think should update, email me.)
Raised the Anemometer up another 20' for better wind measurements
June 2007
Revised Web pages format, no does not upload actual web pages, but
rather the data only; resulting in faster updates. [note: unfortunately;
this leads to
500
series errors sometimes, we're working on it!]
