The information contained here is complex; but let me say that the lightning detection is really more of a 'storm' detection; in that all storm clouds generate IC lightning -- if we detect a lot of that activity; we can assume there is a good solid storm. Feel free to contact me for more information/explanation.

We are part of the "StrikeStar" network (Our ID is ANI) which teams together a network of detection systems to form a map of strikes throughout the USA and elsewhere.

WASP is the Wide Area Storm Probe (Part of the StrikeStar Network)
TRAC Report shows details on a detected storm (when available)

IC: Cloud to Cloud strikes (most common)
CG: Cloud to Ground strikes
Data/images are uploaded about every other minute.
